Philadelphia American Revolution Conference

These are some pictures I took while on a trolley/walking tour of Old City Philadelphia.

This is Independence Hall.  This is where the Second Continental Congress met (after the war began in April of 1775).  This is also where independence was declared on July 2nd, 1776.  The document that Thomas Jefferson wrote announcing independence, the Declaration of Independence, was approved by Congress two days later on July 4th.

This is a reproduction of the building Thomas Jefferson stayed in while in Philadelphia and where he wrote the Declaration of Independence.

Across the street from Independence Hall, the names of 18th Century residents and their occupations are inscribed along the sidewalk approximating the location of where their homes were located.

This is Professor Patrick Spero.  He was our historian for the conference.

"The Signer" is a statue that commemorates the Revolutionary spirit.

This building (next to Carpenter's Hall) served as the War Department early in the war.
