Social Studies 4/14 - 4/17

6th Grade:

6th graders will begin working with the Declaration of Independence.  Students will work with partners for the first part of the week and then write two essays on their own.  The quiz over Section 2 from Chapter 4 will be on Friday, April 25th.  This will be a multiple choice quiz.  Student study resources for Section 2 of Chapter 4 can be found HERE (link).  On Monday, April 28th, 6th grade students will begin a multi-week research paper project.  We have also done several writing assignments lately.  Students who have not yet turned those assignments in will need to get them turned in this week.  I will start grading them over Easter break.

7th Grade:

7th graders will be reading a graphic novel in class this week.  The novel is titled Grant vs. Lee:  The Graphic History of the Civil War's Greatest Rivals During the Last Year of the War.  On Thursday, students will take the 16-5 quiz.  This is a matching quiz.  Study resources can be found HERE (link).  We also did a writing assignment last week.  Students will have until Thursday (4/17) to get that turned in.  Lastly, we will be taking a test over Ch. 16 on Friday, April 25th.  Study resources can be found HERE (link).  A study guide for the Ch. 16 test can be found HERE (link).  I will hold study sessions for the test on Thursday, April 24th at 7am and at 3:15pm.  Study sessions will last approximately 1 hour.  Students will need to bring their review sheet (as completed as possible) to the study session.
