Social Studies 3/23 - 3/27

Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be studying the Rwandan Genocide.  As part of the unit, I am planning on showing the film "Hotel Rwanda" beginning tomorrow.  The film is rated PG-13 and has some pretty intense content.  You can read some information for parents about the movie HERE (link).  If you have any concerns about your child viewing this film, please let me know and I will have an alternative assignment available to them.  Thanks and have a great week!

Social Studies 3/16-3/20

Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be wrapping up Section 1 of Chapter 4.  We will take a quiz on Friday (1st and 2nd Periods might not take the quiz until Monday due to the 3rd Qt. Social Studies 3/2 - 3/6

Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be starting Section 4 from Chapter 3.  We will be having a quiz on Friday, March 6th.  It will be a matching quiz.  Student study resources can be found here (LINK).  

Also, students can still make corrections on the Presidential Speeches assessment.  If students want to make corrections, they must come and talk to me during ISP.  We will discuss their responses and I will tell them what they have to do to earn some points back.  I will need all corrections to be turned in by the end of the day on Thursday, March 5th.

Last reminder...we will have PARCC testing on Wednesday, March 4th.  Please make sure that your child is well-rested and has a good breakfast that morning!

Social Studies 2/9 - 2/13

Parents and Students - 

This is a reminder that the research paper outline for the 6th graders will be due at the end of the day on Monday, February 9th.  This will need to be shared with me via Google Docs.  Additionally, 6th graders will take the 3-1 quiz on Tuesday, February 10th (7th graders took this quiz today).  Study materials for the quiz are available to students via Google Classroom (they will have a link emailed to their inbox).

We will be starting Section 2 of Ch. 3 next week.  We will take a quiz on Section 2 on Friday, February 13th.  It will be a multiple choice quiz.  Study resources for the quiz can be found here (LINK).

Social Studies 2/2 - 2/6

Parents and Students - 

This will be a busy week.  6th graders will be working on the outline for their Natural Disasters research paper.  The final outline will be due to me (via a shared Google Doc) by the end of the day on Monday, February 9th.  

Students will be working on a project in which they will be researching ocean currents and prevailing winds.

There will be a quiz on Friday, February 6th.  This will be a fill-in-the-blank quiz.  There will be a word bank provided.  Student study resources for the quiz can be accessed HERE (link).
