Social Studies 4/27 - 5/1

Parents and Students - 

This week, 6th graders will be reading several articles and doing some writing on topics from the Civil War. 7th graders will be studying government and economics. 7th graders will have a matching quiz on Thursday, April 30th. Study resources for the quiz can be found here (LINK).

Also, this is a reminder that there will be a meeting in my classroom on Tuesday evening at 5:30pm for parents of 7th graders who are interested in the Washington DC spring break trip. The meeting is informational only. Parents will not be asked to commit to anything at the meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. If you can't attend the meeting, please let me know and I will get the informational materials to you.

Social Studies 4/20-4/24

Parents and Students - 

This week, 6th grade students will continue with Chapter 4 in our textbooks. We will have a quiz on Friday. Study materials can be found HERE (link to resources).

7th grade students are going to be learning about Lincoln and the Civil War as we prepare for our trip to Springfield on Friday. Reminder that 7th grade students who are attending the Springfield trip will need to be here by 4:45am on Friday. Adult chaperones will need to be here by 4:30am. We will leave promptly at 5:00am. Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be starting Section 2 of Chapter 4.  We will have a quiz on Friday.  This will be a true/false quiz.  Study resources for students can be found HERE (link).

Social Studies 3/23 - 3/27

Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be studying the Rwandan Genocide.  As part of the unit, I am planning on showing the film "Hotel Rwanda" beginning tomorrow.  The film is rated PG-13 and has some pretty intense content.  You can read some information for parents about the movie HERE (link).  If you have any concerns about your child viewing this film, please let me know and I will have an alternative assignment available to them.  Thanks and have a great week!

Social Studies 3/16-3/20

Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be wrapping up Section 1 of Chapter 4.  We will take a quiz on Friday (1st and 2nd Periods might not take the quiz until Monday due to the 3rd Qt. Social Studies 3/2 - 3/6

Parents and Students - 

This week, we will be starting Section 4 from Chapter 3.  We will be having a quiz on Friday, March 6th.  It will be a matching quiz.  Student study resources can be found here (LINK).  

Also, students can still make corrections on the Presidential Speeches assessment.  If students want to make corrections, they must come and talk to me during ISP.  We will discuss their responses and I will tell them what they have to do to earn some points back.  I will need all corrections to be turned in by the end of the day on Thursday, March 5th.

Last reminder...we will have PARCC testing on Wednesday, March 4th.  Please make sure that your child is well-rested and has a good breakfast that morning!
